There are quite some artists who’ve taken their storytelling to the big screen by starring in a movie or in a TV series. Here are 10 artists from the hip-hop scene who’ve hopped from music to acting.

1. A$AP Rocky

A$AP Rocky made his debut as an actor in the movie DOPE, which came out in 2015. In the well-loved movie, he plays the role of a drugdealer called DOM. For his first time as an actor, Rocky actually did a decent job.

2. 50 Cent

Besides being a famous rapper 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) has starred in multiple TV series and movies. One of the most recent productions Jackson played a role in is the television show Power, in which a wealthy New York club owner lives a double life as a drug kingpin. The TV series is already on it's 4th season.

3. Ludacris

Rapper and actor Ludacris is most known for his role in the Fast & Furious movie franchise. He has played the rol of Tej Parker in five movies, this includes the most recent one, The Fate of the Furious, which came out in April 2017.

4. Tyrese Gibson

After releasing several albums, Tyrese Gibson transitioned completely into movies, with lead roles in several Hollywood releases. Alongside Ludacris, he plays the role of Roman Pearce in the Fast and the Furious movie series.

5. LL Cool J

LL Cool J is one of the rappers that some of you may only know as an actor. While he has released some succesful singles, LL Cool J is most known for his role in hit TV series NCIS: Los Angeles. With his first appearance in 2009, he’s been a star of the show for almost 10 years.

6. Childish Gambino

In contrast to his colleagues, Childish Gambino is actually an actor turned rapper. His roots lie in comedy and over the years he has starred in hit movies like The Martian and Magic Mike XXL. His most recent big role was the one of Aaron Davis in Spiderman: Homecoming.

7. Ice Cube

O’Shea Jackson Sr., better known as Ice Cube, began his acting career after leaving the rap group N.W.A in 1989. His life as an actor includes roles in movies as Boyz n The Hood and Barbershop, and he appeared both in 21 and 22 Jump Street as Captain Dickson.

8. Bow Wow

Bow Wow made his acting debut as a 13 year old in basketball movie Like Mike. In 2015 and 2016 he played the role of Brody Nelson, a former hacker, in the popular TV series CSI: Cyber.

9. Queen Latifah

With a number of acting roles in her name, Queen Latifah earned an Oscar nomination for her role in Chicago in 2002. She also has a lead role in comedy movie Girls Trip, which was just released

10. T.I.

In 2006, T.I. starred in his first film, ATL, which was loosely based on the rapper's life. One of his most recent roles was the one of Russell in the movie Get Hard (2015) in which he starred alongside Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell.
