Kevin Durant’s first signature shoe was the Nike Zoom KD I. That was in 2008. By now, Kevin has 11 basketball shoes with his name on it. All of these sneakers have been helping him with is career and personal life – this one will be too. The Nike BB KD12 will be released the 1st of April.
An essential element from Kevin Durant’s shoes is that there is always a balance between comfort and responsiveness. The shoes should be serving its wearer at all times – to support its greatest moves. Nike got insight by the broken-in feeling that Kevin got every time he putted his shoes on, and they decided to do something about it. Design a sneaker for optimal responsiveness between the foot and the floor.
What has been changed? The strobel. What is it? A piece of fabric that’s stitched directly to the upper side of the (Basketball) shoe. Normally, the strobel is made out of a generic woven and EVA foam – but with the KD12, Nike used a full-length Nike Zoom Airbag cushioning. This is solving the broken-in feeling problem that Kevin had.
The preferred midsole zoom, double stacked zoom, lateral TPU sidewall and multi-directional sole are similar with the KYRIE 5 sneaker. All of these elements are supporting the quick-change-of-direction style. The senses of the foot will easily follow the channels towards the ground.
The upper is provided with interlaced four-way directional Flywire cables, which gets the wearer targeted stability and on-the-fly lockdown. The cables relax when the foot is not in motion, and engage when needed. Comfortable and responsive, just as Kevin wants.
The Nike BB KD12 will be launching on April 1st in a 90-ies kid colourway. Do you rather want de KD12 in black and white? Then you have to wait till the 6th of April. Both colours are available for $150 USD
