This summer the Houston Rockets signed PJ Tucker to a four year, 32 million dollars, contract. For Tucker, it was a great deal as he had never signed such a big contract. But it also caused a lot of problems. Tucker has the largest sneaker collection in the NBA (2200 pairs by his own estimation), and as he is moving from Toronto to Houston lots of sneakers have to make the same relocation.
Fortunately, Tucker does not have to move his complete collection. He has a climate controlled warehouse in North Carolina (where he was born) to store the biggest part of his collection, and his mother also stores several dozens at her house. Tucker labels all of his boxes as he is afraid to forget what he possesses. Nevertheless, with each move in his career, he had to take hundreds of sneakers with him.
Tucker started his professional career in the NBA (the Raptors), but after his first year at the highest level he played five years overseas (in Israel, Ukraine, Greece, Italy, Puerto Rico and Germany). And in every country, his collection grew.
Tucker ‘blames’ his fascination on his mother. When he was a child, she always bought him the latest Jordans. That’s when it all started.
