NBA Jam is a long-running basketball video game series based on the National Basketball Association (NBA). Initially developed as arcade games by Midway, the game found popularity with its photorealistic digitized graphics, over-the-top presentation and exaggerated style of two-on-two basketball play. Midway is also the studio behind popular games like Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Mortal Kombat.
NBA Jam is a great game to play with your buddies. Being able to play with some of the greatest NBA players of the 90's is just so much fun. The whole premise is the same as a regular basketball game. You need to score more points than the opponent with two and three pointers. The difference is that you play two against two with the most overpowered players ever. I mean they can touch the sky. What makes the game so much fun is that it is easy to score, you try to do that in as many wacky ways possible.
The weirdest thing in the video game is not even the overpowered players, but the guest/hidden characters. You can not only play with your favourite 90's NBA players, but you can also choose to play with video game characters like Blaze (Killer Instinct) or Kirby, politicians like Bill and Hillary Clinton and even the game developers.
The game is probably hard to find for the SNES now. It seems it won't be one of the 20 games on the SNES mini that will be released this September. There are some emulators on different websites where you could find the original. There is always the PS3's version or the new NBA playgrounds for PS4 and Xbox One.
