The New Retro: Basketball Sneakers by Filling Pieces

Filling Pieces is an Amsterdam-based footwear label, established in 2009 by designer Guillaume Philibert. Guillaume noticed a lack of high-quality sneakers for a reasonable price and decided to fill the gap by creating a shoe that would build a bridge between streetwear and high-end fashion. What separates Filling Pieces from other sneaker brands is its unique silhouettes and contemporary models that are easily recognizable from a distance.

For their Spring Summer Capsule collection Filling Pieces went back in time to the roots of sneaker history, finding one of it’s biggest influencers, Basketball. It’s no secret the sport of basketball has had a massive influence when it came to the development sneakers, for it was legendary players like Kareem, Frazier, and Jordan who brought sneakers from the court to the streets. The collection was inspired by the classic basketball sneaker styles of the late seventies and eighties, while still maintaining the Filling Pieces design aesthetic. The Capsule collection also introduces two new silhouettes: The Lay Up Icey 2 Flow and the Alley Oop High Icey Jazzy. Make sure to check out the full collection!
