As a music enthusiast, I am obsessed with attending concerts. For those of you that do not know, the second half of the year in Amsterdam is always lit when we’re talking about live performances. Apart from the annual ADE festivities, in which the entire city partakes, there are so many performances of up and comers in the Hip-hop genre in Amsterdam these next winter months that I’m going to help you separate the wheat from the chaff. So, without further ado, here are the top 6 concerts you need to see in the next couple of months.

Dillon Cooper, Melkweg

American rap artist Dillon Cooper is regenerating that old school ‘90s hip-hop vibe and putting New York back on the map together with the East-Coast hip-hop collective Beast Coast movement. Trust me, we will hear much more of Dillon. Catch him on the Monday November 13th in Melkweg Upstairs.

Ella Mai, Bitterzoet

UK singer Ella Mai was discovered by top-producer DJ Mustard after she released an EP on SoundCloud and ended up touring with Kehlani on her SweetSextSavage tour. And all of this before ever releasing an official album! She’ll be performing at Bitterzoet in Amsterdam on Sunday December 10th.

Kelela, Paradiso Noord

Washington D.C. resident Kelala is the future of R&B. After singing in cafe’s in LA, she realized she wanted more. And she got it. Her debut album ‘Take Me Apart’ has blown up and been getting raving reviews from tastemakers like Pitchfork. You’ll definitely want to experience this. She’s performing at Paradiso Noord on Wednesday December 13th.

6LACK, Melkweg

6LACK, pronounced Black, had been on our radar for a while now. After selling out multiple shows, he has decided to go on tour and I personally couldn’t be happier. Catch him on Wednesday January 24th in Melkweg The Max in Amsterdam.

Daniel Caesar, Melkweg

After the release of his critically acclaimed debut album ‘Freudian’, Toronto born and bred R&B artist Daniel Caesar has been the talk of the town. Catch his inspirational and jarring performance in Melkweg the Max in Amsterdam on Sunday January 28th.

Khalid, AFAS LIVE

Soulful American R&B singer Khalid has taken the world by storm. His debut album ‘American Teen’ reached number 4 on Billboard Album top 200 and various singles resulted in him being the most streamed artist in the world. You cannot miss this performance. Wednesday February 7th at AFAS Live in Amsterdam!

Still want more? Make sure to also check out Loyle Carner in Melkweg and Joyce Wrice and Saba in Paradiso as well! You’re welcome.
